Bridging the Gap to Geaux: Community Wellness in Action

Taking support beyond the center’s doors. At the Bridge Center for Hope, crisis care isn’t only about what happens inside our facility — it’s also about strengthening wellness throughout the community we serve. That’s the heart of Bridging the Gap to Geaux, a part of our broader community events series designed to bring awareness, resources, and encouragement directly to residents across East Baton Rouge Parish.

Mental health and substance use challenges can touch anyone’s life, and sometimes the first step toward support happens outside a clinical setting — at a neighborhood event, a resource fair, or a community conversation. The Bridge Center’s outreach efforts are rooted in this belief: wellness grows when we connect, share, and learn together.

Bridging the Gap Community Resource Fair

Each May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Bridge Center hosts its Annual Bridging the Gap Community Resource Fair. This free, parish-wide event provides a welcoming space for residents and service providers to come together to learn, connect, and celebrate community wellness.

At the resource fair, visitors can:

Explore local resources for mental health, addiction recovery, housing, education, and wellness

Meet community partners and service providers

Take part in screenings and make connections that support healing

Build relationships with advocates and neighbors

These community collaborations showcase how many organizations throughout East Baton Rouge are working together to support whole-person health and resilience.

No registration is required — just bring your curiosity, questions, and willingness to connect.

Bridging the Gap to Geaux: Bringing Wellness to You

Wellness shouldn’t require a long trip or an appointment — it should come to where people live, work, and play. That’s the spirit of Bridging the Gap to Geaux, a traveling outreach series that takes Bridge Center support straight into neighborhoods throughout the parish.

Each stop along the Bridging the Gap to Geaux route brings:

Free health screenings

Good food and community connection

Information about services and supports

Opportunities to connect with partner organizations

Whether you’re curious about mental health resources, looking for wellness tips, or simply want to learn more about support options in your community, these events make it easy to take the next step — without fear or stigma.

Meeting People Where They Are

Community involvement is more than outreach — it’s a form of education and early intervention. By bringing resources and conversation directly into the places people live, work, and gather, the Bridge Center helps dispel myths, encourage help-seeking, and make support more visible and approachable.

Through events like Bridging the Gap and Bridging the Gap to Geaux, we’re reminding everyone that:

Mental wellness is a community effort

Nobody has to navigate support alone

Help, hope, and healing are part of everyday life

Wellness is not a destination — it’s a journey we take together

Keep the Momentum Going

Bridging the Gap to Geaux is more than a summer series — it’s a movement toward a healthier, more connected community. As we travel across East Baton Rouge Parish, we’re building relationships, spreading awareness, and making wellness accessible to all.

Let’s keep the momentum GEAUXing — together, we’re bringing hope, help, and healing, one neighborhood at a time.
